Amplified Bible:
But when [in God’s plan] the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the [regulations of the] Law.
Context:
The beginning of Galatians 4 discusses why Jesus came to earth.
Observations:
Jesus came in the fullness of time, which means it was the exact proper time according to God’s plan, not a minute too soon or too late.
This verse confirms that Jesus is the son of God and that God sent him to earth.
Jesus was born of a woman, the virgin Mary. This confirms that he was fully human, as we are. He was also born under the law, which means he was subject to the Jewish law as anyone else was in his day.
Application:
As we go through our Christian life, we should never forget the whys and hows of Jesus’ coming to earth. This verse is a great reminder and a great one to memorize.
