Amplified Bible:
But whoever listens to me (Wisdom) will live securely and in confident trust
and will be at ease, without fear or dread of evil.
Context:
The opening chapter of the book of Proverbs sets the tone for the rest of the chapters filled with wisdom, guidance and sayings of the wise. Verse 33 paints a picture of what a life of making wise choices looks like.
Observations:
First, we must notice that the verse says we must listen to wisdom to get its benefit; this implies that it is something we hear, both from God and from wise counselors.
If we listen to wisdom, we will live securely, and we will not have to fear harm or dread evil.
Application:
Making wise choices leads to God’s protection in life. Therefore, it is imperative that we devour God’s word and meditate on it in prayer so that we will know the right paths to take.
