New American Standard Bible:
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
New Living Translation:
But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
New King James Version:
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
New International Version:
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amplified Bible:
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory [as conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Context:
The apostle Paul weaves various aspects of Christ’s resurrection and what it means for our Christian life through I Corinthians 15. After making his explanation, he begins to conclude the passage with a statement of thanksgiving.
Observations:
Thanksgiving is given to God.
God gives us a conquering victory, and our victory is over sin and death. The victory that God gives us is through his Son and our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Application:
We should give thanks to God, and as we do, remember the things for which we are giving thanks – his Son, our Lord, who came to earth as a sacrifice for our sins, died and rose from the dead three days later in triumph. As a result, we enjoy conquering victory over sin and death.
