The wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.

Context:
In I Corinthians chapter two, the apostle Paul goes into detail about how he relied on the Spirit of God and not his earthly faculties. The preceding verses lead to verse eight, in which he discusses the blindness the world has to divine wisdom.
Observations:
The smartest, brightest and most prominent rulers of Jesus’ day could not account for the wisdom of God, who sent his son to die, as foretold by the prophecy, for the sins of humanity.
He bases his conclusion that they did not understand it on the evidence that they put to death the Lord of glory, Jesus.
Application:
Even though that was over 2,000 years ago, we are still today prone to miss the wisdom from above and replace it with our own logic. Let’s not put Christ to death again in our hearts; let’s celebrate his resurrection and the forgiveness of sins.
