New American Standard Bible:

New Living Translation:
So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
New King James Version:
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
New International Version:
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Amplified Bible:
So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free.
Context:
John chapter eight is a rich passage in which Jesus talks about the reason for his coming to earth and what true freedom is – freedom from sin.
Observations:
Each of the five biblical translations begins this verse with the word “so” or “therefore,” signaling a pivot from his previous teaching about himself becoming the ultimate sacrifice to remove sin.
Jesus can set us free, and when he does, we are truly and unquestionably free. This is a freedom from sin that all of the religious rulers of Jesus’ day could not provide, and it is a freedom that we can find nowhere else.
Application:
We need to live as free people from the bondage of sin because by the grace of God through the coming of the Lord Jesus, we have been set free.
