But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
NIV:
But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
Observations:
As Stephen made his defense before the religious leaders who were preparing to put him to death, he confronted them about their persecution of the righteous. So they began gnashing their teeth at him.
All the while, he was full of the Spirit, which enabled him to look into heaven, see the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
Takeaways:
Be like Stephen. He was unafraid of their attacks on him and was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Contemplate the scene. What a marvelous experience it must have been to look into heaven, see the glory of God and see Jesus standing at his right hand.
