Scripture in 60: Matthew 10:39

NASB:

He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for my sake will find it.

NIV:

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Observations:

Anyone can find life, and anyone can lose life.

If we find our life, we will lose our life.

To find our life, we must lose our life for the sake of Christ.

Takeaways:

This is a paradoxical teaching from Christ about what it means to follow him.

If we find our life, which means putting our trust and hope, in the things of this world, we will lose our life, which means our eternal reward.

But if we lose our earthly life for the sake of Christ, we will find our life in eternity with him forever.
