NASB:
For by him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through him and for him.
NIV:
For by him all things were created: Things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
Observations:
All things were created by God.
All things were created for God.
This verse from the first chapter of Colossians tells us what “all things” in creation means.
He created the heavens. He created the earth.
He created the visible. He created the invisible.
He created thrones. He created dominions.
He created rulers and authorities.
He created all things.
Takeaways:
Take a minute where you are right now and look around. As you do, think about the fact that everything you see and sense was created by God.
God created everything. That is a mind-blowing thing to try to comprehend.
But there’s an important part of this verse we should not miss: All things were created by God, for God. They were not created for us.
