Scripture in 60: Psalm 23:4

NASB:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

NIV:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Observations:

Ah, the great 23rd Psalm in which David describes how the Lord is our Shepherd.

Part of life is walking in and around death. In the valley of this world, we see the shadow of death all around us.

Despite our being so close to death, we should not fear any evil.

We don’t fear evil because the presence of the Lord is with us.

The Lord comforting us with his presence is like a shepherd comforting and leading his sheep by using a rod and a staff.

Takeaways:

Understand and see the death that is around us and part of our lives here on earth.

When we see death, remember this verse and that we do not have to fear evil because the Lord is with us and will remain with us through our time here on earth and forever after.
