NASB:
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
NIV:
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with glory that will be revealed in us.
Observations:
Romans chapter eight is a multifaceted passage of scripture in which the apostle Paul talks about who Christians are. In verse 18, he pivots from a section talking about living in the spirit to where we are going.
We suffer in this present time. Whether you are currently suffering or not, suffering is a non-avoidable symptom of life.
Glory will be revealed in us as we are transformed from earthly to heavenly beings.
The present suffering is not worth comparing with future glory.
Takeaways:
Notice what he is saying here, whatever we go through on this earth — and there are some major, major trials that many of us experience — isn’t even worth comparing to the glory that we will have in the future.
Now if that isn’t something worth getting excited about, I don’t know what is.
