NASB:
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
NIV:
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.
Observations:
To begin the fifth chapter of the apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he continues developing his exhortation from chapter four that we should live as children of God and in the light.
This verse is very simple in phraseology but vast in implication.
We are to imitate God in all we do.
Our imitation of God should model a child who is loved dearly by his parent. That child would want to be like that parent in every way.
Takeaways:
Imitate God. The way we imitate someone is to study that person and model everything we do after him. So, we should pour over God’s word to understand the heart of our Father.
Behave as if God is our loving Heavenly Father, because that is what he is.
