Patriot’s Report:

Alabama passes bill to protect life

Story: The Alabama State Senate has passed a bill that would make abortions in the state illegal with the exception of when the life of the mother is in danger. It criminalizes doctors and clinics who would perform abortions, making that a felonious activity. The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Kay Ivey (R). (via Yellowhammer News)

Patriot’s Pen: The legal merits of this law will probably be decided by the Supreme Court down the road. It will most likely lead to the reconsidering of Roe vs. Wade. It is encouraging that Alabama and other states are passing pro-life laws and that the national sentiment seems to be swinging back in the direction of life. This is about giving personhood rights to a child in the womb, which we all were at one point.

Iran is trying to start a war with the United States

Story: The United States has ordered all non-emergency government personnel out of Iraq. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) says this is due to “clear and persistent evidence” that Iran and its proxy forces are planning to attack Americans with the intent to inflict mass casualties. (via Sen. Marco Rubio)

Patriot’s Pen: President Trump ran and won on a foreign policy of restoring America’s standing in the world while being a non-interventionist, which would indicate that he is not in favor of a conflict with Iran. The problem seems to be that Iran knows that Trump is not eager for a conflict and is trying to provoke our nation. To be effective, U.S. military leaders must maintain a policy of all options on the table so that Iran respects what can be done to them. This takes place with the backdrop of the Iranian Nuclear Deal implemented by the Obama administration, a deal that basically handed the Iranian government over $1 billion of our dollars. Trump pulled out of that deal after becoming president.
