Patriot’s Report:
Can Americans still make hard choices for a greater good?
Story: The ongoing trade back-and-forth between the United States and China may have a ripple effect that ultimately trickles down to the American consumer if higher tariffs are imposed by the Communist nation. The Trump administration seems to be going all-in on stopping China from taking advantage of the U.S. in cyber warfare and trade, no matter what they do in return.
Patriot’s Pen: Fox News host Martha MacCallum posed an interesting question on her show, The Story, Monday night. She wonders if U.S. consumers would be able to live with making the difficult choice of paying a bit more if a trade war with China erupts. This would not be a first for us. During World War II, many basic goods were rationed to help support the war effort. But it’s been a long time since we have been in a major conflict and had to pull together to achieve success. Is this country today capable of doing that?
Martha MacCallum: “There is a cost in any war. So here’s the question that the country faces now: Are Americans willing to sacrifice as they have in the past to win a war? This time it’s an economic battle. But as a nation, will Americans choose to take the pain to try to get China to change its ways? Or if it becomes too costly, will they go another way in the voting booth?” (via Fox News)

House Republican conference chair Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyoming) responded to Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-Michigan) anti-Semitic and historically inaccurate comments about the nation of Israel and the Holocaust. Cheney was a guest on Fox and Friends and had this to say.
