LISTEN
NASB:
Pray without ceasing.
NIV:
Pray continually.
Observations:
As the apostle Paul is giving his final instructions to the Thessalonians in his first letter to them, he pens one of the shortest verses in the Bible. It is only superseded in brevity by the verse immediately before (“rejoice always”) and John 11:35 (“Jesus wept”).
The injunction of this verse is very simple, keep on praying no matter what.
Takeaways:
Pray, pray, pray, and after we pray, pray some more.
Prayer is God’s gift to us as a way to commune with him. We have a direct line to the God of the universe at any time, so why would we not use it at all times?
There is no single action that can be done on this earth more powerful than praying, and there is no limit on the amount of praying that can be done.
