Socialism rots everything

What is happening right now in Venezuela, while somewhat hopeful for those hoping to overthrow the ruthless regime of President Nicolás Maduro, is in large part extremely sad. It is the result of what happens when governments exercise command and control authority over the economy.

In an op-ed for National Review, Roberto González and Liza Gellerman detail how Venezuela became this disaster. They point to a 1945 book by Friedrich Hayek in which he predicted the tyrannical consequences that we are seeing today in that country. Basically, it starts and ends with the empty promises of socialism backed up by the unwillingness of the populous to believe that it will lead to the government controlling and ultimately corrupting an entire society.

It is a good reminder for us, as Americans, to be vigilant in standing up for the freedom that has led us to such prosperity. Sadly, there are prominent voices in U.S. politics who want to wipe out virtually all of our free market achievements in favor of the same socialism that he decayed Venezuela.

Former abortionist praises ‘Unplanned’

‘Unplanned’ is the story of former Planned Parenthood worker Abby Johnson, who after seeing the actual horrors of abortion that she was helping facilitate, became an outspoken pro-life advocate. Of the numerous reviews I have seen of the movie, I found one from a former abortionist to be particularly poignant.

Kathi Aultman said as a former abortionist, she had reservations about seeing the movie. But, she goes on to acclaim the movie and affirm it as reflective of her experience. She also encourages everyone to see the movie.
