LISTEN
NASB:
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
NIV:
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Observations:
Jesus was explaining to the gathered crowd and Jews why his teaching and testimony was valid.
In the previous verse, he declared that those who hold to his teaching are his disciples.
He continues that exhortation by declaring what he taught as the truth.
If we hold to his teaching, we know the truth.
If we know his truth, it will set us free.
Takeaways:
Know his truth. Study the word of God and become familiar with the teaching of Jesus.
Obey his commands. His teaching is there for a reason, and that is so we can learn how to live our lives.
Be free. Jesus came so that we could be freed from the constraints of sin and death.
