LISTEN
NASB:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.
NIV:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Observations:
As Jesus was about to be taken to heaven following his resurrection, he explained to his disciples that the Holy Spirit would take his place with them until he returns.
The Spirit has power, and that power comes upon us when we are filled with the Spirit.
As a result of the Spirit’s presence in our lives, we are empowered to be the Lord’s witnesses throughout the earth. At the time of Jesus, Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria covered a significant portion of the world.
Takeaways:
Be filled with the Spirit. We can’t use the power the Holy Spirit gives without being filled.
As we are filled with his Spirit, use that power to be the Lord’s witnesses in our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the end of the earth. That could be our city, county, state, nation and the remotest parts of the earth.
