Scripture in 60: Matthew 28:19-20

NASB:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

NIV:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Observations:

This is at the very end of Jesus’ earthly ministry when he was preparing to ascend to heaven. It is called the Great Commission because he was commissioning his disciples with what to do after he left.

As we make disciples, we are to do so in the name of the triune God — God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit.

He says for us to teach others to obey what he has commanded.

And, he tells us that he will be with us until the end of our age.

Takeaways:

First, we need to go — go unto all the earth.

As we go, we are to make disciples.

We make disciples in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

As we make disciples, we teach them to obey every command of Jesus.

We must also know that he will be with us always.
