Scripture in 60: Philippians 4:6

NASB:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God.

NIV:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Observations:

Paul is wrapping up his letter to the Philippians by telling them not to be afraid and to rely on God.

He doesn’t just say avoid anxiety if possible, he says don’t be anxious about anything.

Then, he tells us how to present our needs and requests to God — petition him with a thankful heart in prayer.

The presenting of our requests to God with a thankful heart in prayer is given as the antidote to anxiety.

Takeaways:

We need to throw off anxiety in our lives.

God has given us the blueprint on how not to be anxious, so we need to use it.

Whatever we need, ask God with a thankful heart. If we do that, our anxiety will cease.
