NASB:
In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
NIV:
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Observations:
Paul is writing to the Thessalonians and telling them to give thanks in everything, all circumstances. This is something that Paul knew how to do well; he was beaten, he was imprisoned, shipwrecked and more.
To give thanks to God is do to his will.
God’s will is for us in Christ Jesus.
Takeaways:
No matter what is going on in our lives, we need to be thankful.
Most of us in the United States do not experience major circumstantial hardship, but even if we do, we can be thankful for salvation and the life that God has given us.
To be thankful is to do the will of God.
