LISTEN
NASB:
For he says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, and on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is, “the day of salvation.”
NIV:
For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of Godʼs favor, now is the day of salvation.
Observations:
Paul is stressing the urgency of the gospel message, that it is something that will not wait another day.
Here he quotes from the book of Isaiah (49:8) when the prophet is writing about the restoration of Israel and said that now is the time of salvation.
Takeaways:
Recognize the urgency of salvation. As spoken by the prophet Isaiah and reiterated by Paul, God’s time of salvation does not wait.
The Lord will hear us and help us in the day of his favor and salvation, which is today. The Lord’s favor is not delaying another day. Today is the day of salvation.
