Scripture in 60: Acts 3:18

NASB:

But the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he has thus fulfilled.

NIV:

But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer.

Observations:

This is when Peter, following Pentecost and the filling of the Holy Spirit, was speaking to a crowd, telling them about the gospel.

He explains how Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy that they had studied and known.

Jesus’ suffering was something that God had foretold through the prophets and was part of how the prophecy was fulfilled.

Takeaways:

We can learn from Peter’s boldness in telling the crowd about Christ and his explaining it to them in detail. We should be so bold and explanatory.

We can also learn that when God says something or foretells something in his word, he means it. Christ suffered, died and was risen, just as the prophecy stated.

Finally, we need to constantly remind ourselves of just how much our savior, Jesus, suffered on our behalf.
