Scripture in 60: Proverbs 29:25

NASB:

The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.

NIV:

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

Observations:

Fear of man is not good. We will become ensnared if we fear the things of this world. This applies to people as well as institutions and governments.

The antidote to fearing man is trusting in the Lord. If we trust in the Lord, we will be exalted (NASB) and kept safe (NIV).

Takeaways:

We don’t need to fear man and the things that cause us anxiety and fear in this world. The fear of the Lord is mentioned extensively in the book of Proverbs, and that is the only fear we need to have. And that is a fear out of reverence, not worry.

We need to trust in the Lord. Things don’t always look rosy, but trusting in the Lord will lead to our being exalted and kept safe.
