Scripture in 60: II Corinthians 4:18

NASB:

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

NIV:

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Observations:

We should not fix our eyes on the things that are seen.

We should fix our eyes on the things that are unseen.

The things that are seen are temporary.

The things that are unseen are eternal.

Takeaways:

Paul is exhorting the Corinthians to keep their minds heavenly-focused and not to get bogged down with the things of this earth.

He warns us against fixing our eyes on the things of this present world that are temporary — here today and gone tomorrow.

He encourages us, instead, to keep our eyes fixed on the things of eternity. Even though we can’t yet see them, those things will last forever.

As we go about our day today, let’s try to think of at least one aspect of heaven that we cannot wait to experience.
