NASB:
Delight yourself in the LORD; and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in him, and he will do it.
NIV:
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.
Observations:
We are to delight ourselves in the Lord.
If we delight ourselves in the Lord, he will give us the desires of our hearts.
We are to commit our way to the Lord.
We are to trust in the Lord.
Takeaways:
The Psalmist David is writing about what we should do in order to give ourselves fully to the Lord.
The first thing he mentions is to delight in him. That is, we are to take delight in the very presence of God in our lives.
We must also commit our way to him, which means allowing him to govern the decisions we make and paths that we take, as well as trust in him.
If we do these things, David writes that the Lord will give us the desires of our hearts. Because in doing these things — delighting, committing, trusting — our desires turn into his desires.
