Scripture in 60: Revelation 3:20

NASB:

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me.

NIV:

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Observations:

In the NASB, the verse begins with “behold,” whereas in the NIV, it is Jesus saying, “Here I am!” with emphasis.

To open the door for Jesus, we must first hear his voice.

If we open the door for Jesus, not only will he come in and eat with us, but we will also get the opportunity to eat with him.

Takeaways:

This is a picture of Jesus standing at the door of our hearts and knocking.

If any of us hear his voice, he will (not may, not only on a certain condition) come in and eat or dine with us, and we will be able to dine with him.

God has brought salvation from our sins to the door of our hearts and souls through his Son, Jesus. It is our opportunity to open the door and receive Jesus so that we can have fellowship with the Father.
